Désirée Kogevinas

Therapist specialising in addiction, addictive disorders and trauma

Behavioural and substance addiction

Désirée has many years of experience helping patients cope with addictions, mental health problems and behavioural disorders. Désirée spent over ten years as Head of Communication at the World Health Organisation (WHO). She has also provided her services on a voluntary basis to several charitable organisations and has found her work with street children in Bogotá to be particularly rewarding.

Today, she is a therapist specialising in support for recovery from addictive disorders and post-traumatic symptoms. She helps people all over the world to free themselves from their dependencies using coaching, techniques to reduce substance abuse risks, family involvement and “invitational intervention” methods for people experiencing problems. Désirée works in English and French and can also speak Greek and Spanish fluently.

Since 2002, Désirée has been following her own path of recovery from behavioural and substance addictions. Her own journey was challenging at first, but she received help from community mutual aid groups in addition to some excellent treatment centres. These two factors led to her being able to envisage a life beyond her wildest dreams. She has also had a great deal of therapy for childhood trauma and this has enabled her to make the transition from darkness and despair to light and joy.

Now, Désirée’s sole passion is helping others.

She works with love and compassion and the connections she forges with others have seen her to go from strength to strength.

She is determined to pass on what she has received, both in her personal and professional life, with the same spirit of generosity.

She actively applies many of the latest therapy techniques. Désirée invites you to contact her if you or any of your loved ones are struggling with substance abuse or addictive behaviours.
